> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://help.1nspect.app/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Narrative Collections (Collection Detail) # Narrative Collections (Collection Detail) The Narrative Collection Detail page (route `/collection-detail`) is where you **edit a single collection** — add new narratives, edit existing ones, filter and search, organize by Section and Report Area. This is the most-used surface in the Intelligence Hub. For the list of all collections, see [Narrative Library](/1nspect/admin-operator/intelligence-hub/narrative-library). *** ## When you use it * **Right after creating a collection** — start adding the most common narratives * **As inspections complete** — review narratives that inspectors saved from mobile, edit for tone and consistency * **For template adoption** — copy good narratives from one template's collection to another via the import/export workflow * **Cleanup** — delete duplicates, deprecate stale language *** ## Screen layout \[SCREENSHOT: collection-detail.png — desktop, the Collection Detail page showing a Filters sidebar on the left and a narrative list on the right, with an Add Narrative form at the top of the list.] Two panes: 1. **Filters** (left) — narrow the visible narratives 2. **Narrative list** (right) — the current set, with an Add Narrative form at the top *** ## Filters The Filters pane has four controls. They compose with AND logic. ### Type filter A drop-down with the canonical narrative types: | Type | What it's for | | ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **All Types** | Show everything | | **Photo Captions** | The short title text on photo cards in the report. Mapped to mobile's caption field. | | **Deficiency Comments** | Full CAR narratives — the main inspector finding text | | **Report Area Comments** | Higher-level commentary on a whole section/area (e.g. an overall electrical-system summary) | Each narrative is stored with its `type`, and the filter narrows accordingly. Most operators spend the most time in **Deficiency Comments** since that's the meat of the report. ### Section filter A drop-down listing every section in the templates associated with this collection (Structural Systems, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.). Pick a section to narrow to narratives tagged for that section. ### Report Area filter A subsection-level filter, populated based on the chosen Section. E.g. with Section: Electrical and Report Area: Main Panel, only narratives for the Main Panel subsection of Electrical appear. ### Search A keyword search across narrative text. Placeholder: *"Keyword..."*. Substring match, case-insensitive. Combine all four for sharp queries (e.g. *Photo Captions, Section: Roofing, Report Area: Flashing, Search: "rust"*). *** ## Adding a narrative A form at the top of the narrative list lets you add a new narrative inline. ### Required fields | Field | Notes | | --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Caption / Heading** | Short title — for Photo Captions, this is the actual caption. For Deficiency Comments, it's the finding name. Placeholder examples: *"Loose wire at panel"* or *"Missing flashing at chimney"*. | | **Narrative body** | The full text — for Photo Captions, this can be the same as the caption. For Deficiency Comments, this is the CAR narrative. | | **Type** | Photo Caption / Deficiency Comment / Report Area Comment | | **Section** | Drop-down | | **Report Area** | Drop-down filtered by section | ### Optional fields | Field | Notes | | --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Rating code** | Letter code (A, B, C, D...) for advanced classification. Used by some reports to sort findings by severity letter. | | **Tags** | Free-form keywords for cross-referencing | | **Notes** | Internal-only annotations (not rendered on reports) | After filling, click **Save** to commit. The narrative appears in the list above and is immediately available to: * Mobile inspectors using this collection (as FREE chips and 🪄 Library Search results) * Web admin inspectors editing reports in [Inspection Reviewer](/1nspect/admin-operator/inspection-reviewer) *** ## Editing existing narratives Each narrative card in the list shows: * The caption / heading * A preview of the body (truncated) * Type, section, report area badges * Per-card actions: **Edit · Duplicate · Delete** Click **Edit** to open the same form inline with the narrative's current values. Edit and save. **Duplicate** creates a copy with `(Copy)` appended — useful for creating a variant. **Delete** prompts confirmation. Deleted narratives: * Vanish from mobile and web library searches * **Do not** affect already-published reports (they kept their snapshot of the narrative at publish time) * Cannot be recovered through the UI *** ## Saving narratives back from mobile Inspectors on mobile can save a narrative to the library via the **Save to Narrative Library** action below the narrative field on the [Capture Screen](/1nspect/inspector/capture-screen). What happens: 1. The narrative is de-identified (addresses, client names removed) 2. It writes to the inspection's assigned collection 3. It shows up in this page within seconds 4. Available immediately as a FREE chip on future inspections with this collection Cost on the inspector side: **1 IT** (covers the de-identification AI step). *** ## Bulk operations Most operators ask about bulk operations once their collection grows past 100 entries. Currently supported: * **Multi-select with checkbox** — select multiple narratives in the list * **Bulk delete** — delete several at once with one confirmation * **Bulk type-change** — move several narratives from Photo Captions to Deficiency Comments or vice versa * **Export to CSV** — download the visible list for backup or offline editing * **Import from CSV** — bulk-add narratives from a spreadsheet The CSV format mirrors the in-page form fields. See the Export action for the exact column order. *** ## Templates compatibility A collection associated with a specific template can only be assigned to orders using that template. If a collection has no template association (you left the field blank when creating it), it's available for **any** order — useful for general-purpose collections.
